From my first thoughts free writing at the beginning of Haroun and the Sea of Stories until now, not a lot has changed. It still seemed like a silly children’s story that I kept wondering about why we were reading it and what we were supposed to take away from it at the end. However, the part where Haroun’s mom left with another man was. It was also misleading that at the end, she came back to them and they let her. Overall, the plot of this book confused me in that it was difficult for me to follow all of the characters and places in the story at once. At the end, Haroun is ordered to the Walrus’s office, where he is told that the whole ordeal was just a test, which was also an odd addition to the book. The question “What’s the point of stories that aren’t even true” disappeared a little from the story, as I had predicted it was going to the focal point. The whole story was hard to follow for me, and I just was not interested whatsoever as I had predicted when I finished the first chapter.
